Hi there!!
So this is my first blog entry, and I’m a bit stuck on what I should talk about. I wanna basically have a sports blog, but maybe a twist, kind of like Bill Simmon’s column on ESPN.com. Anyway, a bit about myself. I’m a big exercise person, in fact i just got done with a 12 mile run. I’ll have a marathon in a couple weeks as well. I love cycling and spend most of the summer on my bike. I’m also a college student, but that isn’t what this blog is about. I’m a big wisconsin sports fan. I’m about 65,000th on the Green Bay Packers season ticket waiting list. I have hope. I love the packers, badgers and brewers. Not alot of people (myself included) care about the bucks although I do follow them lightly, and being a badger fan, I hate Marquette. My fondest memory as a child was when the Packers won Super Bowl XXXI over Bill Parcells and the Patriots. I was six and most people have only a few memories of age six. But I vividly remember Brett ripping off the helmet and joyously sprinting across the field. I also remember the next year, sobbing uncontrollably in my living room after John Elway helicoptered his way to victory. I haven’t missed a Packer game since 1996 and like alot of people in this state, I live and die with them. Other great memories for me include the Buck’s run to the conference finals in 2001 (I think that was the year) only to have the Big 3 stopped by A.I. and his smug little grin. One fantastic memory when I was ten was the Badger’s improbable NCAA tourney run to the final four. They were almost out of the tourney a few weeks before but miraculously beat a top seed and made it, only to run into Mateen Cleaves and the hated Spartans. Other great Badger basketball memories include Kam Taylor’s game winner over MSU, the win over Oden and the Buckeyes, Tucker’s tip in winner over Indy (I was there for the last two). Also the run to the elite 8 and the championships and the one week atop the polls.I was in Orlando for the awesome Capital One Bowl victory over Auburn in Coach Alvarez’s last game, which still is my favorite Badger victory of all time. For football though I remember Lee Evan’s miracle TD against OSU, the winning field goal at the Alamo, and of course the magical year of Dayne. The rose bowls are another fantastic childhood memory. The Brewers always made us sad until recently, although the near hit and misses hurt the most. I remember just last year the sheer joy that I felt when Ryan Church flied out to end the Met’s season and continue the Crew’s. We are forever indebted to the great C.C. even though he bolted and now is stinking it up. Without him we’d still be depressed. Ryan Braun is the man by the way.So that’s a little bit about my sporting history. more to come soon!!
